Guanajuato Wineries Around San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo, Mexico

Guanajuato's vineyards sit at high altitude, between about 5,900 and 8,200 ft (1,800 and 2,500 m), around Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel de Allende. There are also wineries in Comonfort, San Felipe, the Guanajuato mountains, Salvatierra, San Francisco del Rincón, and along the road from León to Lagos de Moreno.

Around San Miguel de Allende the wineries line the roads that leave the city toward Querétaro, Dolores Hidalgo, and San Felipe. In Dolores Hidalgo they sit on the road from San Miguel and on the one that continues to San Luis de la Paz. At the 2026 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, held in Armenia, thirteen vineyards from five municipalities (San Miguel de Allende, Dolores Hidalgo, San Felipe, Comonfort, and León) won 52 awards, and Cuna de Tierra's 2021 Gran Pago de Ricardo Vega was named the best Mexican wine of the competition. That same year Guanajuato won more medals than any other Mexican state at Bacchus in Madrid, 26.
