The house

Little or no sulfite and a vineyard without herbicides mark the work of Ulises Ruiz Mariño at Los Arcángeles, in Dolores Hidalgo. He wanted to make wine in Guanajuato with as little intervention as possible, and the vineyard is farmed on agroecological principles. Everything comes out under one brand, Canto de Sirenas, which the family already used before planting, when it assembled its blends with grapes from other regions of Mexico.

The house began in 2016 and opened to the public in 2019. Ruiz Mariño studied enology in Montpellier and worked in wine regions of Germany and the United States before returning to Dolores Hidalgo. It describes itself as a family boutique winery.

It is about 17 acres (7 hectares) on the highway to San Diego de la Unión, between San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chenin Blanc. In 2021 the house debuted at México Selection with a Grand Gold for its 2020 Sauvignon Blanc, which also won the Revelación Blanco (White Revelation) prize, and a silver for its 2019 Cabernet Franc.

The tour of the vineyard and winery includes a tasting of three wines. There is a restaurant and cabins among the vines, and everything is booked online. Every year, between August and September, the house celebrates its vendimia, and the ninth edition was on September 26, 2026.
