Chihuahua Wineries: Desert Wine Country, Mexico

Chihuahua grows wine grapes in the middle of the desert, in one of the least known states in Mexican wine. At the start of 2026 it counted 51 vineyards and 24 wineries. This guide groups the wineries by zone: Chihuahua City, the Valle del Sacramento, the Valle de Encinillas, Aldama, Santa Isabel, Satevó, Delicias, Cuauhtémoc, Namiquipa, Casas Grandes, Parral, the Sierra Tarahumara, Guerrero, Aquiles Serdán, and Samalayuca.

Some wineries are close to the capital. Pinesque is inside Chihuahua City, in the Campestre del Bosque neighborhood, and Piñamora is in the Sacramento River valley, on a slope of the Sierra de Sacramento, in the municipality of Chihuahua. Cavall 7 is at the Rancho El Halcón, km 82, about 11 miles (18 km) south of Ciudad Delicias. Farther south, Bodegas Valles Villalpando has its vineyard at Estación Troya, about 34 miles (55 km) from Parral, and Casa Vazqueño is in the Valle de los Olivos, about 45 minutes from Parral. In the Sierra Tarahumara, the Hotel Misión is in Cerocahui, about 9 miles (15 km) from the Bahuichivo station of the Chepe train.
