Sonora Wineries and Desert Wine Country, Mexico

Sonora makes high-elevation wine in the northeastern desert. Near Cananea, at about 4,900 ft (1,500 m) and not far from the Arizona border, the Cuatro Sierras vineyard grows in a valley ringed by four mountain ranges. It sits between Cananea and Agua Prieta, near Naco.

In central Sonora, Vinos Giottonini grows its grapes at the Hacienda San Jerónimo, in Guadalupe de Ures, and wine tours from Hermosillo visit the Hacienda de los Moreno, an estate with a vineyard and winery on the outskirts of the city.
