Tamaulipas Wine Country: The Jaumave Valley, Mexico
Tamaulipas makes young wine in the Jaumave valley, at the foot of the Sierra Madre Oriental. For now, this guide lists one vineyard there, Monterredondo, which presents itself as the first vineyard in Tamaulipas.
Viñedo Monterredondo is in the ejido Monterredondo (an ejido is land held by a farming community), in the municipality of Jaumave, on the Victoria to Tula highway at km 105, about 40 minutes from Ciudad Victoria. It opens on weekends by reservation.
