The house
In Fuentezuelas, on the outskirts of Tequisquiapan, wine and beer come from the same place. Norte B makes the wine from its own vineyard's grapes and the beer in its brewery, and serves both on terraces built from shipping containers.
The vineyard covers about 10 acres (4 hectares), according to Turismo del Estado de Querétaro. From it came the Mantis 2021, the house's first white, a Xarello made entirely from its own harvest, a Catalan grape more tied to cava than to still wines.
The wines fall into two families. The Bicharraco line takes its names from bugs of the region, among them the chapulín (grasshopper), the mantis, the tantarria, the chicatana (a flying ant), and the libélula (dragonfly), and runs from barrel-aged reds to whites, rosés, and sparkling wines. The other is called Corre que te pillo. Among the labels are Libélula, a long-aged Brut Reserva sparkling wine, and Tantarria, a blend of Malbec and Syrah from the 2018 vintage. There is also a young Malbec, with a sweet version, and a sparkling rosé.
One terrace serves the wine and another the beer, with food to go along and a menu of experiences about both processes and about pairing with regional cheeses. What you taste at the house is also sold in its online shop.
