The house

Santiago Apóstol (Saint James the Apostle), the patron saint of Querétaro, names the brand under which Vinícola San Patricio bottles everything it makes. The company started on September 15, 1999, in Ezequiel Montes, on the initiative of the Rodríguez family headed by engineer Alberto Rodríguez, with long experience in the wine of the region.

In 2001 it moved to its current home, on the highway to Huichapan, in Tierra Blanca, Tequisquiapan, and since then it has presented itself as the first winery of that municipality.

Its catalog is broad. There are dry reds, such as the Padre e Hijo, of Cabernet Sauvignon with new French oak barrels, and a family-reserve Tempranillo, plus easygoing whites and rosés, a port-style wine from several red grapes, a traditional fortified wine in the style of the old Mexican sherries, and a damiana liqueur.

The visit tours the academic vineyard, where pruning and harvest are explained, passes through the crushing area and the winery, and ends at the tasting table. There are variants with a cheese board and a blind tasting. Tours leave every hour, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and are booked three days ahead. All three tours include a taste of the fortified wine and the damiana liqueur. Children have their own tour, with grape juice, a notebook, and colored pencils.
