The place
In 2010 its owners came upon an abandoned estate in La Noria, in Huimilpan, and restored a building from the late 17th century that they called Solariega Gran Salón. Today it keeps old walls, natural stone patios, centuries-old mesquite trees, and retractable roofs that show the stars or shelter from the weather. It is about 25 minutes from downtown Querétaro. To that main house was added Viña Jardín, an industrial-style hall with glass walls that open to gardens with reflecting pools, the boutique vineyard, and the hills. The ceremony can be held among the vines. The enclosed halls take from 100 to 500 guests, and the house works with a list of approved caterers and with rates at partner hotels. The hacienda looks after its footprint with reforestation, water-saving irrigation, LED lights, 120 solar panels, and composting of organic waste. Visits are scheduled Monday through Sunday.
