The house

Gerardo Torres, a lawyer, came to know the vineyards of the Rhine and, once retired, wanted to see something similar from his own land. In 2011 he planted one hundred Tempranillo vines at the foot of the Mujer Dormida hill, on the south shore of Lake Chapala, across from Ajijic. Today the estate has about 7,000 plants, mostly Malbec, Tempranillo, and Syrah.

For the first three years there were two harvests a year. Since 2016 there has been just one, between June and July, to strengthen the vines. The agronomist Trinidad Jiménez arrived in 2015, and the first winemaking came in 2017 under the winemaker Lluís Raventós Llopart, director of Freixenet de México. The grapes travel to Querétaro, where the wine is made at Freixenet's facilities.

The estate is in San Nicolás, in the municipality of Tuxcueca, Jalisco, on the highway from Guadalajara to Jiquilpan, about 2.5 miles (4 km) east of San Luis Soyatlán. Tastings are guided visits, by reservation only: private from Wednesday through Saturday, and in the Ensueño format on weekends. The tour lasts about an hour and three quarters and ends with four of the house's wines and a board of cold cuts and cheeses.

There is no restaurant and no place to stay after the tour. The estate also hosts corporate events and private celebrations, which are arranged directly with the house.
