The place
Visit Casas Grandes is the tourism portal of the Cadena Productiva Casas Grandes, an association of suppliers and business owners in the region, created in 2023 with the Chihuahua Secretaría de Turismo (the state tourism office). It offers three tours with a bilingual guide, transportation, and insurance. The Traditional tour covers Paquimé, Mata Ortiz, and Colonia Juárez, the Express stays in the historic center and the museums, and the Recargado, the extended version, adds the Cueva de la Olla. They run from half a day to a full day. The portal also presents the two active vineyards in the valley. Viñedos La Turbina operates in a restored 1850 adobe winery, with a boutique hotel facing the vines, tastings, and pairing dinners. Vinícola La Victoria serves wines from Château LeBaron, of Galeana, with sommelier-guided tastings and direct sales at the winery. Both receive visits from March to November.
