The house

The Salvador grape, a red-fleshed variety, covers 17 acres (7 hectares) of the Los Rosales vineyard in Tequisquiapan, and with it the family makes its young wines. The estate is about ten minutes from Tequisquiapan and about 45 from the city of Querétaro, according to Turismo del Estado de Querétaro.

The vineyard began in 1970 and for forty years sold grapes to other houses. In 2011 the family decided to make its own wine, with handcrafted work at every stage, and in April 2013 it planted five new varieties with rootstocks brought from France. They are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Chardonnay, and Muscat, and the vineyard sits at about 6,280 ft (1,915 m).

Today there are several lines. Misiones Chapelet covers the young wines of pure Salvador, Puerta del Cielo the blends of Malbec, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon with time in oak, and Los Rosales the reds with two years in American and French oak barrels. The vendimia is held every summer, in late July, with grape stomping and tours, and in 2025 it reached its twelfth edition.

Walking tours of the vineyard and the winery last about forty minutes and end at the wine bar, with two tastings to choose from. There are also tram rides and guided tastings, and the estate hosts weddings and social events.

The wines

Three lines, one per style. The young wines are of Salvador grape, with a deep color because the grape has red flesh, the blends mix French grapes with time in American and French oak, and the age-worthy reds spend 24 months in barrel.
