The house
Sangiovese and Nebbiolo, grapes from Italy, grow in Dolores Hidalgo next to Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, and Cabernet Sauvignon. That is how the Tres Raíces vineyard is put together, a house that in a few years went from a newly planted vineyard to a full estate, with a winery, two restaurants, and a hotel among the vines, on the road that links San Miguel de Allende with Dolores Hidalgo.
The first vines were planted in 2012. In 2016 the first production came out and the main building began to go up, and in October 2018 the house opened to the public with its first harvest ready for sale. Heading the house's winemaking is Spaniard Aarón Huertas.
At the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2026 the house won five gold medals, with the 2020 Gran Reserva, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, the 2023 Tempranillo Reserva, a 2022 Caladoc Reservas, and the 2025 Rosé, plus a silver for its organic Sauvignon Blanc.
The guided tasting of three labels includes sensory exercises, and there are pairings of three or five courses, workshops, and walks through the vineyard. Terruño, the restaurant with chef-driven cooking, looks toward the vines, and Terruño Negro is the house's second. The boutique hotel has rooms that look onto the vineyard.
The wines
A broad catalog of varietals and blends, with Italian grapes such as Sangiovese and Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, and Cabernet Sauvignon, whites from Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, and a rosé. Some reds, like the Ensamble Tinto, pass through barrel, and the Tré line is the house's most relaxed.
