The house
Horses and oxen pull the plows at Tierra de Peña. The vineyard, in the Colón valley in Querétaro and in view of Peña de Bernal, is worked with permaculture and biodynamic preparations, and some hens eat insects and fertilize the soil. From that grape the house makes natural wine in steel tanks and French and American oak barrels, unfiltered and unfined and with no added sulfites.
Among its labels are Tierra Viva, a red, the pet nat Flow, and Apapacho, a skin-contact wine, found in shops that specialize in natural wine across the country. Because the land is agroecological, visits are by reservation only, with private tastings facing the Peña, educational tours, and pairings with Mexican food.
