The house
An orange wine of Moscato Giallo, wines fermented with native yeasts, and varieties uncommon in Mexico, such as Aglianico, are the signature of Dos Búhos, which makes wine only from the grapes of its own vineyard, farmed with Oregon Tilth organic certification.
Behind it are three generations of a family fond of art, architecture, the countryside, and wine. It all began on a ranch of about 1,040 acres (420 hectares) at the foot of Los Picachos hill, where for more than six decades there were peach, apricot, and almond orchards and cattle. Today the property is about 185 acres (75 hectares) and part of it is vineyard, planted in 2006.
The vineyard is on the high plateau, between about 6,230 and 6,560 ft (1,900 and 2,000 m) according to the house, on clay and calcareous soil of volcanic origin, and gathers about twenty varieties, among them Tempranillo, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Grenache, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillón, and Moscato Giallo. The whites are Sauvignon Blanc and Semillón, and there is a traditional-method sparkling rosé. At Brussels 2026 its 2021 Grenache won a silver medal.
It is just a few miles from the city, on the highway to Buenavista and San Felipe. The tour of the vineyard and the winery lasts about two hours and ends with a tasting of four wines, and afterward you can eat at the house restaurant, among the vines.
