The house

At Concierto Enológico every glass comes with its score. Tastings pass through the production winery and the underground cellar, and each wine is accompanied by a piece of music chosen for it. The winery is at km 88 of the Tecate to Ensenada highway, already inside Ejido El Porvenir.

The house began in 2004, when Luis and his wife Marga got the winery going, and took its current name in 2011. It works 32 acres (13 hectares), of which 16 acres (6.5 hectares) are planted with Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Grenache, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc.

The red Concierto is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Ruby Cabernet with 18 months in barrel. Forza, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Barbera, and Allegro, a white, round out a range of labels named after music.

The three tastings carry musical names, Melodía, Sinfonía, and Concierto, and last between 45 and 60 minutes. The sensory tasting, devoted to aromas, can run as long as 80. The Laboratorio Enológico Interactivo takes about two hours and ends with something in hand: each visitor designs a blend, bottles it, and takes it home with a personal label. Everything is booked online, through OpenTable, or by WhatsApp, and the house catalog has eight wines to choose from between one glass and the next.

The wines
