Mexico Wine Calendar: Harvest Festivals and Wine Events Month by Month

Which harvest festivals and wine events take place in Mexico each month, with the usual dates from recent editions and how to confirm this year's.

Entrance to a winery lit at night, with a stone arch that lets an orange glow show through and a cobbled courtyard in front.

The Mexican wine calendar has a pattern that repeats: a few city events between January and May, a harvest season that starts in June in Querétaro and fills up in August, and a close in October and November. This guide lays out those dates month by month, with what happened at the latest editions of each one.

These are usual dates, not confirmed ones. Each organizer announces its edition months ahead, sometimes with a changed format, so here you find what to expect, and in the events calendar what is already confirmed. Where only one edition is documented, the text says so, and windows that shift from one year to the next are shown with their years.

Every fact comes from the press or from each edition's organizer. This fall's schedule has its own guide, fall harvests and wine festivals, with specific dates for one year. This one lays out the whole year, the part that repeats.

When is harvest season in Mexico?

The vendimia is the grape harvest, and the festivals that celebrate it are spread across regions and months. These are the 2026 windows, with those of earlier editions where there are any:

  • The Querétaro route: from June to October, with harvest weekends in July, in September and, above all, in August, the busiest month. The wine cluster (Clúster Vitivinícola) spoke of 46 harvest events, large and small.
  • The Aguascalientes route: between July and September. In 2025 it ran from July 19 to September 6, and in 2026 the calendar of the Consejo Mexicano Vitivinícola (Mexican Wine Council) listed harvests at Aguascalientes wineries from August 1 to September 13.
  • The Coahuila route: the Feria de la Uva y el Vino de Parras (the Parras grape and wine fair) ran from August 1 to 16 in 2025 and from July 31 to August 16 in 2026.
  • The Baja California route: the Fiestas de la Vendimia (the harvest festival) in Guadalupe Valley ran from August 5 to 30 in 2026.
  • The Guanajuato route: from August 1 to October 18, 2026. In 2025 it started on August 9 with the first event and ran to mid-October.

The August window gathers nearly everything: it is when Baja California, Parras, Guanajuato, Querétaro and Aguascalientes overlap. If you want to see a harvest with grape picking, grape stomping (pisa) and a party in a single trip, that is where the most options come together. If you prefer smaller crowds, June, July and the first days of September also have harvest weekends.

What happens from January to May?

This is the part of the year for city fairs and for events built around the sea, cheese and new wine. Here is what happened at recent editions:

  • January: Nación de Vinos, at the Jardines del Campo Marte in Mexico City. It took place on January 24 and 25, 2024, January 22 and 23, 2025 and January 28 and 29, 2026, in its seventh edition, with more than 80 Mexican wineries from 17 regions, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. It always fell on a Wednesday and Thursday in the second half of January. The 2027 edition does not yet have a date we can confirm. Since 2025, companies can buy admission, which used to be by invitation only.
  • February and March: we did not find a recurring Mexican wine event with verified editions. There are fairs of wines from several countries: Vinoma, in Puerto Vallarta, ran from March 5 to 7, 2026, and La Paulée México announces its 2027 edition for March 11 to 13 in Mexico City, with wines from Burgundy.
  • April: the Festival de las Conchas y el Vino Nuevo (the shellfish and new wine festival), in Ensenada, fell on a Sunday the last three times: April 14, 2024, April 13, 2025 and April 19, 2026, always at the Hotel Coral & Marina. In 2026 there were oysters, clams and mussels with young wines from several regions, on the hotel's large terrace.
  • May: the Festival Internacional del Arte, Queso y Vino de Tequisquiapan (the international art, cheese and wine festival), in Querétaro, ran from May 22 to June 8, 2025 and from May 7 to 24, 2026, the year it turned 50, with free admission. The Festival Internacional del Vino de San Luis Potosí (the international wine festival), with wines from around the world, took place on June 6 and 7, 2025 and on May 29 and 30, 2026, at the Centro de las Artes.

For Tequisquiapan, the guide to vineyards in Querétaro and the cheese and wine route helps you round out the weekend with nearby wineries.

What is on in June and July?

June opens the wine summer. The Fiesta de los Viñedos en Flor (the vineyards in bloom festival), organized by the Provino committee in Guadalupe Valley, took place on June 8, 2024, June 14, 2025 and June 13, 2026, in its 20th edition, with free admission for children under 18. Chihuahua's Vinorte festival, at the Centro Cultural Quinta Carolina, was also in June, on the 6th in 2026. We documented only that edition of it.

In Querétaro the 2026 harvest season started on June 8. July already brings harvests in other states: the 2025 Aguascalientes calendar began on July 19, and Viñedos El Sueño, in Ezequiel Montes, held a harvest with a flamenco show in July 2026, according to its profile.

When are the August harvests in each region?

August is the month of the big dates. Baja California's Fiestas de la Vendimia have their own guide, with program, tickets and lodging: the Fiestas de la Vendimia in Guadalupe Valley. In Parras the fair covers the first two weeks of August and a little more, and Guanajuato opens its season with the harvest at Viña del Gran Padre, in Dolores Hidalgo, which held it on August 1, 2026.

In Aguascalientes the wineries open in turns. In 2026 the calendar of the Consejo Mexicano Vitivinícola listed, among others, Hacienda de Letras on August 1 and 2, Tierra Tinta on the 8th, Rancho Entre Olivos on the 15th and 16th, Vinícola El Aguaje on the 22nd and 23rd and Praön de María on September 5 and 6. Viña Las Cruces, Bodegas Origen and Finca Renacimiento also appear in those weeks.

Tip

If a harvest festival interests you, ask the winery well in advance. In Guanajuato, for example, each harvest sells its tickets separately, and the schedule, price and capacity are confirmed with the venue.

Which wineries open their doors during the harvest?

The profiles in this directory say what each house offers when the harvest arrives. In Aguascalientes, Tierra Tinta, in El Cariñán, holds tastings with pairings in an underground cellar that the state government includes in the calendar of its wine route, and it celebrates harvests in season. Praön de María has cabins and glamping with a view of the vine rows, picnics in the vineyard and a bonfire at night, and at harvest time it opens for the grape picking. Viña Las Cruces adds vineyard tours, horseback rides, a restaurant, picnics and lodging, and during the harvest, grape stomping. It is open every day of the year.

Hacienda de Letras offers a guided tour of the vineyard and the winery, a visit to the cellar and the barrel room with a tasting, a picnic among the vines and cabins inside the hacienda. Rancho Entre Olivos takes part in the state's harvests, and its profile asks you to confirm hours and activities before you go. In Guanajuato, Viña Gamar held the second edition of Aromas de Vendimia in August 2026, within the state's official calendar.

What is on in September and October?

September is the close of the season in Aguascalientes: its 2025 season ended on September 6, and the harvests listed in 2026 ran to the 13th. Guanajuato and Querétaro keep going with harvest weekends until mid-October.

October brings the closing dates. The 7th is Mexican Wine Day, established by decree. On the third weekend of October two events repeat. One is the Festival del Vino Queretano, at Plaza Gran Cué in Corregidora, which ran from October 17 to 19, 2025 and will be held on October 17 and 18, 2026 according to the wine cluster's site (a May press release mentioned the 19th). The other is Aire Tinto, at Val'Quirico, Tlaxcala, which took place on October 21 and 22, 2023, October 19 and 20, 2024 and October 18 and 19, 2025. Its official site announces the fourth edition for October 17 and 18, 2026. The Guanajuato harvest season also ends that same week.

And in November and December?

November has one event in Guanajuato city: Catando México, in the historic center. It was held on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22, 2025, and in 2026 it is on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21. Those are the dates in the 2026 program on the organizer's site and on its ticket sales page.

In December we did not find a recurring Mexican wine event with verified editions. There are dinners, tastings and events at individual wineries, and they appear in the events calendar as the houses announce them.

How can you tell if a date is already confirmed?

A usual date becomes a confirmed one when the organizer announces it, and the timing varies. The Provino committee made the 2025 Fiestas de la Vendimia public in early May of that year. The press published the Querétaro calendar for 2026 on May 20, and the trade press was already talking in June about the 15 harvest festivals in Guanajuato. La Paulée México, by contrast, had already published its March 2027 edition in October 2026.

If two sources give different dates, the organizer's is the one that counts, and it pays to check the year of each article, because many are republished without changing the date. The practical rule has three steps:

  1. Look for the event in this site's events calendar, where each date carries its status and its source.
  2. If it is not there, open the organizer's official page or account and confirm the year, venue and tickets.
  3. Once the dates are confirmed, book lodging and transportation, which fill up before tickets do.

Which month should you choose for what you want?

  • Grape picking, grape stomping and a party in the countryside: August, with options in five states.
  • A city fair with many wineries in one place: January, in Mexico City, or November, in Guanajuato city.
  • Young wine with seafood by the sea: April, in Ensenada.
  • Cheese, art and wine with free admission: May, in Tequisquiapan.
  • Closing out the season: the third weekend of October, between Querétaro and Tlaxcala.

To place each state and its wineries on the map, there is the guide to Mexico's wine routes, state by state. With a month in mind, the next move is to open the events calendar for that month and block out the weekend before the hotels fill up.
