About this event
By official declaration of the Mexican government, October 7 is Día del Vino Mexicano (Mexican Wine Day). For 2026, the Consejo Mexicano Vitivinícola (the Mexican Wine Council, or CMV) put together a Mexico City schedule that runs from September 30 to October 16, with activities for the public, for wine professionals, and for the industry itself.
For the public, the program includes a chocolate and Mexican wine tasting at the MUCHO Museo del Chocolate during Noche de Museos (Museum Night) on September 30, the lecture La ciencia detrás del vino (The Science Behind Wine) at the Instituto de Química (chemistry institute) of UNAM, Mexico's national university, on October 14, and, as the finale, the Salón del Vino Mexicano on October 16, with guided tastings and a commercial showcase of labels from several producing states. Venues, times, and access conditions for each activity are announced separately. The venue of the Salón has not been published yet.
For the trade, there is the masterclass Actualidad del Vino Mexicano (The State of Mexican Wine), aimed at sommeliers and the HORECA sector (hotels, restaurants, and catering), on October 6, and the Fábrica de Negocios (Business Factory) with GS1 México on October 6 and 7, which aims to connect Mexican wineries with buyers and distributors. On October 7, CMV members and regional associations raise a toast at the Balcón del Zócalo in a celebration of the industry.
Beyond the schedule, restaurants and wine bars across the city are joining in with promotions during the week. The history of the date and its declaration is in our news section.
