Editorial review · reviewed on October 11, 2026To see the vineyard at Hacienda Galindo, you do not have to leave the hotel. The vines grow next to the main compound of this viceregal hacienda on the outskirts of San Juan del Río, an estate that tradition links to Hernán Cortés and La Malinche. The Fiesta Americana Hacienda Galindo hotel presents Château Galindo as the only vineyard owned by a Grupo Posadas hotel, and its bottles are sold only on the property.
The vineyard began in 2019 with advice from Gino Parrodi of Cava 57, the winery of the Parrodi family in the same municipality. It covers about 1.6 acres (6,600 square meters) at 6,350 ft (1,935 m), with Chardonnay, Syrah, and Macabeo, varieties brought from Spain, and according to the press the wines are made at Cava 57. The first harvest was in 2022.
Tastings are arranged through the hotel. On Saturday afternoons a sommelier leads three wines with artisanal cheeses in the hacienda's cellar, and on any day with a reservation you can have a two-hour picnic among the vines, with a cheese and cold cuts board and a bottle of the house. Lodging, the spa, and the pool are on the same property.
Every year, between August and September, the hacienda celebrates its vendimia (harvest festival) with grape picking and stomping, tastings, and music. The fifth edition was on August 22, 2026.
The wines
The collection the chain presents has three wines, which the press says Cava 57 makes. They are a sparkling wine from Macabeo, Xarello, and Parellada, a Syrah rosé, and a red from Syrah and Malbec. Xarello, Parellada, and Malbec are not among the three varieties planted at the hacienda.
