The house
Héctor Fuentes started with cattle and fruit trees on his ranch in Francisco Zarco, in Guadalupe Valley (Valle de Guadalupe), and planted the valley's classic grapes: Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. His son Miguel, a graduate of the University of California, Davis, took over, and since 2000 the family has centered the business on wine. Colombard and Muscat came later.
The tasting room opened in 2008, and the restaurant Sarmiento's followed, in a ranch house, with Mexican cooking, generous portions, and children welcome. The house makes about a dozen wines with a fruity profile. It stands on the main street of Francisco Zarco, and it is worth confirming the hours through its social media.
