The place
On Calle Barracuda, number 77, Villa Ortega's has its dining rooms facing the sea in Puerto Nuevo, the town in Playas de Rosarito where lobster is the custom at the table. According to a 2005 article in the San Diego Reader, the Ortega family opened several restaurants in town, and this is one of them. Lobster is served Puerto Nuevo style, with flour tortillas, rice, and beans, and the menu includes other seafood dishes. The patios and terraces look out on the ocean, and the hall is spacious, divided into several dining rooms. The restaurant sits on the coast between Tijuana and Ensenada, a convenient stop before continuing to Guadalupe Valley. Groups of twenty or more reserve by email. Hours vary by source, so a call beforehand saves a wasted trip.
