The house
Before the vine there was an orchard. For more than a decade the family grew fruit and vegetables at Rancho San José, in the Valle de las Delicias, municipality of Cosío, and olive and fig trees still grow on the ranch. Then came the vineyard.

The winery was incorporated in 2020 and the first harvest was made into wine. The wines reached the market in 2021, when the winery opened its doors as a wine tourism project. It works with thirteen varieties, among them Tannat, a grape from southwestern France that became famous in Uruguay and that, according to local press, this house was the first to plant in the state.
Six labels came from that first harvest. There is a Sangiovese, the Tuscan grape, named Alessandrina, a blend, El Susurro, and the Viña Secreta line, with Chardonnay, Syrah, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. The 2020 Syrah received the Grand Gold Medal at México Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2021, a debut with a medal for a first harvest.
On the visit, staff guide the vineyard tours with a glass in hand. The winery also offers lodging with breakfast, to wake up in the middle of the valley and continue the next day through the towns of the north of the state, and its shop sells the house labels.
The wines
Almost everything is varietal. Each label of the Viña Secreta line shows a single grape, from Chardonnay to Cabernet Franc, and Alessandrina is dedicated to Sangiovese. El Susurro is its blend.
