The house

Each plot at Vinaltura is harvested separately. It is 49 acres (20 hectares) divided into blocks, with more than a hundred thousand plants of fifteen white and red varieties, and the house picks them lot by lot to make micro-vinifications.

The project belongs to Hans Duer Andresen, a chemical engineer who fell in love with wine in Baja California and sought out his guide there, Hugo D'Acosta, a winemaker trained in Montpellier and Turin, who has accompanied him as an advisor from the start. The first vines were planted in 2014, in Santa Rosa de Lima, in the Colón valley in Querétaro, and Duer, who now runs the commercial side, sees it as a legacy for his family.

In the field the house speaks of reasoned viticulture, which respects the area's biological diversity, and in the winery of minimal intervention. From the rows you can see Peña de Bernal. The labels are grouped into four families: the Bajío blends and sparkling wines, the varietals, the Terruño series, which blends grapes from different plots, and some special editions. At México Selection it took gold with the Sauvignon Blanc in 2018 and with the Terruño Blanco in 2022.

Envero, the estate restaurant, serves on a terrace facing the vineyard and changes its menu with the seasons. The estate also hosts private events, and Envero has a traveling version that the winery calls Envero on Tour. Visits, with a tour and tasting, and the table are booked online.

The wines

Micro-vinifications by plot and as little intervention as possible in the winery. Its wines fall into four families. Bajío covers blends and sparkling wines, the varietals ferment in steel, the Terruño series blends grapes from different parts of the vineyard, and the special editions include a traditional-method sparkling Gewürztraminer.
