The house
Totol began in 2009 with one barrel, half a ton of grapes, and a course at the Estación de Oficios El Porvenir, La Escuelita of Guadalupe Valley (Valle de Guadalupe). Gustavo Peña and Marisol Medrano, a couple with a passion for wine, made the winery official in 2012 and moved to Tijuana in 2015. The name comes from how Marisol pronounced her own as a child, and a ladybug is the emblem.
The winery is on Avenida Aquiles Serdán and makes wine and beer in small batches, with minimal intervention. Its website shows the 2025 Piquette white, rosé, and red and a 2024 Chardonnay sparkling wine, made with grapes from San Vicente and Guadalupe Valley. The press estimates about 1,500 cases a year. The website says nothing about tastings.
