The house

Painter Jorge De Loera, his son Diego, and Marcelino Padilla brought wine and art together in an urban winery on Paseo de las Maravillas avenue in Aguascalientes. The labels carry work by local artists, and the wine is made by Dr. Edgar Reyes, who was already making wine in the state when he met the partners at a tasting.

The grapes come from Villa Juárez, in Asientos, at about 6,630 ft (2,020 m), where Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Tempranillo grow, among other varieties, in shallow, well-drained sandy silt, with strong sun by day and cool air at night. At the city winery you can take the 45-minute tour with a tasting of two wines, booked online.
