Vineyard Hotels: The Wineries in Mexico Where You Can Spend the Night

Real vineyard hotels: 22 wineries in Mexico with lodging on their own estate, from Guadalupe Valley to Parras, and what to ask before booking.

Stone gazebo with a white dome and weathervane. In the background, a whitewashed round building and a white tower among palm and cypress trees, at the Casa Madero hacienda in Parras, Coahuila.

There is an hour that only those who stay know. The last visit leaves, the parking lot empties and the vineyard goes back to the wind. A night falls quieter than the city allows, and the next morning the light comes in low between the rows while the winery wakes a few steps away. If you are looking for vineyard hotels in Mexico, you do not have to settle for one that is merely nearby. In our directory there are 22 wineries with lodging on their own estate or in the same complex, spread across Baja California, Querétaro, Guanajuato, Coahuila and Aguascalientes.

Here we group them by region, with what each offers besides the bed: tastings, a restaurant, tours. The details come from their profiles and, in the case of Casa Madero, from its official site too. When a description comes from text the house itself published, we say so with the phrase according to its profile. One note for the whole list: Cities and Wines of Mexico does not sell nights or take reservations, so to sleep at any of these houses you have to write or call them directly.

What counts as sleeping in a vineyard?

Sleeping inside a working winery and sleeping in a hotel that merely sits in a vineyard area are different trips. Only the first goes on this list: rooms, villas, cabins or guesthouses that belong to the winery or are part of the same complex where the wine is made. The difference shows in the small things: the tour starts at the door of your room and the last glass does not require a drive.

Three cases were left out on purpose:

  • Clos de Tres Cantos, in San Antonio de las Minas, states in its profile that it does not offer lodging, although it recommends nearby options.
  • Barón Balché talks about plans to house visitors, not about a hotel in operation.
  • Viña del Cielo describes a hotel and chalets in its profile, but that profile has no recent verification and its location is still to be confirmed. We will add it when we can review it.

Where can you sleep among the vineyards in Guadalupe Valley?

Baja California holds almost half the list. Most of its options are in Guadalupe Valley (Valle de Guadalupe), along the Tecate-Ensenada highway. The rest are split among San Antonio de las Minas, the El Sauzal coast and the northern entrance of the route, in Tecate. The valley is about 12 to 16 miles (20 to 25 km) from Ensenada and a little over 60 miles (100 km) from Tijuana, so sleeping there also saves you the drive back after dinner. If you have not yet decided which part to stay in, our guide to Guadalupe Valley wineries by zone helps you choose, and all the state's wineries are on the Baja California wineries page.

At the center of the valley

  • Adobe Guadalupe describes itself as a winery and boutique hotel. According to its profile, it took its first steps under the direction of the winemaker Hugo D'Acosta, planted its first vines in 1998 and offers pairing dinners, vertical tastings and rides on the Azteca horses the house breeds.
  • Hacienda Guadalupe, at km 81.5 of the Tecate-Ensenada highway, shares property with its restaurant and its hotel, according to its profile. Its tastings are poured in a room with a view of the valley.
  • Vinícola Castillo Ferrer, at km 86.3, in El Porvenir, has ten themed rooms, plus tastings and a restaurant.
  • El Cielo Valle de Guadalupe, at km 7.5 of the Guadalupe-El Tigre road, brings together a winery, vineyards, a café, the restaurants Latitud 32 and Polaris and a hotel with villas. It offers vineyard tours with a tasting and visits to its underground wine library.
  • Encuentro Guadalupe, at km 75, is a hillside hotel with its own winery of about 10 acres (4 hectares). Its wines, including a sparkling, a rosé and a red, are served by the glass or the bottle, and you can visit its Cava Origen.
  • Casa Emiliana, in Ejido El Porvenir, is a family project of about 12 acres (5 hectares) that works as a boutique winery and guesthouse. The family asks you to confirm before going, especially on weekends.
  • Vinícola Maglén, at km 90.8, in Las Lomas, is part of the Maglén complex, alongside the Maglén Resort hotel, restaurants and a craft brewery.

San Antonio de las Minas, the coast and Tecate

  • Nativo Vinícola, in San Antonio de las Minas, south of the valley, was born in 2007 with the idea of linking wine to the culture of the native peoples of Baja California. It has a tasting room among the vineyards, an open-air restaurant and cabins. Visits and tastings are booked on its website.
  • Viñas del Castillo, at km 99.5 of the Tecate-Ensenada highway, in El Sauzal de Rodríguez, combines a winery and a boutique hotel in a castle-inspired building, with a cellar and tasting room.
  • Cuatro Cuatros, at km 89 of the free (non-toll) Tijuana-Ensenada highway, brings together vineyards, a winery, a hotel and residences with a view of the Pacific. Its guided four-wine tasting with bites is reserved in advance.
  • Encino de Piedra occupies the historic Rancho Tecate, at km 10 of the Tecate-Ensenada highway, where a first vineyard was planted in 1893. It has a boutique hotel, a restaurant whose menu changes with what the land and local producers offer, tastings in the vineyard and a red wine blending workshop.

And if tents are your thing, Vinos Bibayoff, at Rancho Toros Pintos, has a camping area, plus gardens and a small museum with objects from the family. We do not count it among the hotels, but it is also a way to spend the night among vines.

Which Querétaro wineries have lodging?

Tequisquiapan is about two hours from Mexico City, so the Querétaro route fits in a day. Sleeping on the estate, however, solves its great dilemma: tasting without having to drive back. There are four options on the Querétaro wineries page, and the complete route, municipality by municipality, is in our guide to vineyards in Querétaro:

  • Puerta del Lobo, in El Marqués, offers, according to its profile, Casa Blend, a four-bedroom house for up to 15 people. The complex has two restaurants, Sarmiento and Ruinas, and activities such as horseback and bicycle rides.
  • San Juanito, in Tequisquiapan, has La Casona, with five rooms. Its profile describes a two-night package for double occupancy with breakfasts, a guided visit, lunch with wood-fired pizza and a bottle of its rosé sparkling wine, Espuma del Valle de Bernal.
  • Hacienda Tovares, on the outskirts of Cadereyta de Montes, is a hacienda from 1640 that works as a resort complex with lodging, a restaurant and events. Among the vines and a small lake you can ride in a wagon or on horseback.
  • Tierra de Alonso, in Colón, adds a hotel, spa and restaurant to its winery and shares facilities with the Finca VAI cheese dairy: the cheese and wine route without moving the car.

Tip

During harvest season, and above all the weekend of the Festival del Vino Queretano (the Querétaro Wine Festival), which closes it in Corregidora, the rooms on the route fill up fast. Check the date of each edition in the wine events calendar and write to the estate weeks in advance.

Where can you sleep among the vineyards in Guanajuato?

From the capital it is about three and a half hours to San Miguel de Allende, so here the night is part of the plan. The three Guanajuato options sit between San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo, and two belong to the same complex. It is the route for anyone who imagines wine smelling of lavender. The rest of its wineries are on the Guanajuato wineries page, and how to tour them is in our Guanajuato wine route:

  • La Santísima Trinidad, in Dolores Hidalgo, is a development with vineyards, olive trees, lavender and a polo field. According to its profile, its boutique hotel has five rooms with king beds and bathtubs, plus a spa, a restaurant on the shore of a lake and tastings by reservation.
  • Viñedos San Lucas is part of the same complex. Its profile describes Italian-style villas with suites that face the lake or the vineyards, a pool, a bar, a farm-to-table restaurant and lavender fields.
  • Tres Raíces, at km 73 of the San Miguel de Allende-Dolores Hidalgo highway, has, according to its profile, the boutique hotel Casa Raíces, with suites for couples and family options among the vineyards, and the restaurant Terruño, with chef-driven cooking using local products.

Can you sleep at the oldest winery in the Americas?

In Parras de la Fuente, yes. Casa Madero presents itself as the oldest winery on the continent. Its history begins in 1597, with the founding of the Hacienda de San Lorenzo, and its cellars are about 6 miles (9 km) north of the center of Parras, among vineyards and nut orchards. According to its profile, part of the hacienda's old buildings works today as a hotel and dining room, and its official site describes the Casa Grande, the main house, set up to receive guests. Before planning, confirm with Casa Madero whether it receives travelers on their own or only groups, and on which dates.

The municipality of Parras adds two other options with their own beds:

  • Vinícola Parvada, founded in 2017 on the site of an old hacienda, offers, according to its profile, tastings, the restaurant Nido Kitchen and a boutique hotel on the property.
  • Antigua Hacienda de Perote has operated as a hotel since 1992, with a restaurant, pool and event hall, and its cellars still make wines and spirits. The grapes are crushed in July and August.

The rest of the state's wineries, from the Sierra de Arteaga to Cuatro Ciénegas, are on the Coahuila wineries page, and the complete trip to Parras, from history to tastings, is in our guide to the wineries of Parras.

Are there vineyard hotels in Aguascalientes?

There is one in our directory. Hacienda de Letras occupies the old hacienda of San Luis de Letras, in Pabellón de Arteaga, in the north of the state, and the Aguascalientes wine route presents it as one of its pioneering houses in wine tourism. It offers guided tours of the vineyard and winery, visits to the barrel room, tastings, picnics, a restaurant and lodging. Of the three profiles we have in Aguascalientes, it is the only one with its own lodging.

How do you choose where to sleep among the vineyards?

The best choice depends less on the hotel's stars than on the trip you want to take. A few pointers, always based on the profiles:

  • For a couple's getaway: La Santísima Trinidad describes its boutique hotel as a romantic plan, and Tres Raíces has suites designed for two.
  • For a large group: Casa Blend, at Puerta del Lobo, takes up to 15 people.
  • To eat without leaving the estate: El Cielo, Hacienda Guadalupe, Tierra de Alonso, Hacienda Tovares, Casa Madero and Hacienda de Letras have a restaurant or dining room on the same site.
  • For those who travel for history: Casa Madero, with roots in 1597, Hacienda Tovares, built in 1640, and the Antigua Hacienda de Perote, with a winery since the 19th century.
  • To see the sea: Cuatro Cuatros, with a view of the Pacific.
  • For a family atmosphere: Casa Emiliana, run by the family itself, or the cabins at Nativo.

If you want to coincide with a harvest festival, plan ahead. In Baja California, the Fiestas de la Vendimia (the harvest festival) are held in summer. In 2026, the 36th edition ran from August 5 to 30. In Querétaro, the 2026 season runs from June 6 to October 18. In those weeks it pays to write to the estate earlier than usual.

What to ask before booking

  1. Whether the tasting or tour is included in the rate or paid separately.
  2. Which days the restaurant is open, especially on weekdays.
  3. Whether they accept minors and pets. Several tastings are for adults of legal age only.
  4. Whether they require a minimum stay on weekends, long holiday weekends or during the harvest festivals.
  5. How to get there and how to get around afterward, if you do not have a car.
  6. Until when you can cancel without a charge.

Tip

Book the bed first and the tastings afterward. With the night settled, you can schedule visits in the surroundings without thinking about the way back, and leave the last glass for the estate's own terrace. How to request each appointment is in our guide to booking a visit.

Choose the region according to the distance you are willing to cover, open the profile of the winery that caught your eye and write to it with your dates. Ask about the tasting before the pillow. The bed matters, but what stays with you is the vineyard at the hour when nobody else is there.
