The place
Hugo opened on Avenida Veracruz, in Roma Norte, when few bars in the city served natural wine with small European-style plates. It has the feel of a bistro, with a bar where the glass is poured and tables by the window and out on the sidewalk, where people sit in mid-afternoon as if it were summer in Italy. The list combines natural and low-intervention wines. The menu, inspired by the bistros of France and New York, includes salads, oysters, gnocchi, and a simple schnitzel with old-style mustard, and there is a short cocktail list, with negronis that count among the good ones in the city.
