The house

Erick Plata trained at La Escuelita in Guadalupe Valley (Valle de Guadalupe), experimented at Casa de Piedra, and coordinated Paralelo before opening his own winery in 2009, in San Antonio de las Minas. Today he receives visitors himself at the Mina de Plata (the Silver Mine), as the house calls its tasting room.

His labels play on his surname, which means silver. Plata Pura is 100% Merlot with 12 months in barrel, and Plata .925 blends Tempranillo, Grenache, and Syrah with 8 months. Also in the range are Señora Bonita, of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the white Granalla, of Sauvignon Blanc, and two canned wines called Alpaca. Visits are requested online, for 1 to 15 people, and the house approves them.
