The house
Francisco Alberto Salazar Giottonini, a chemical engineer from Hermosillo and the grandson of one of the founders of an early 20th-century Sonoran agricultural company, spent some seventeen years testing grapes and methods at the Hacienda San Jerónimo, in Guadalupe de Ures, before bringing his wine to market in 2020.
Vinos Giottonini farms without insecticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers and bottles a red of Shiraz and Tempranillo, a Shiraz rosé, and a white of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. It is sold in shops and restaurants in Hermosillo, and its founder chairs the Asociación Vitivinícola de Sonora, which aims to put together a wine route in the state.
