The house
Eleven years separate the first vine from the first bottle in the Valle de Barranquillas, municipality of Luis Moya. The Luévano family planted its red vines in 2005 and released its first labels in 2016, with house names, Señora Eulalia, Roberto III, Doña Fernanda, Carlos III, and Doseme, which the winery itself presents as a tribute to its roots.
The vineyard is at about 6,460 ft (1,970 m). The house describes a semi-arid climate with scant rainfall, with days of 82 to 86°F (28 to 30°C) and nights of 46 to 54°F (8 to 12°C) in the ripening season, and credits that difference for the thick skins of its grapes. The cellar has room for 200 barrels of French and American oak, and the blended reds, based on Cabernet Sauvignon, spend 10 to 13 months in French oak. The wines are signed by the winemaker Alex Sotelo, born in Jerez, Zacatecas, who began by picking grapes in California, trained at Napa Valley College and UC Davis, and has worked in Napa since 1991.
The visit starts in the vineyard, with tours that explain the vine's cycle, guided tastings with cheeses and cold cuts and, from April to October, a picnic among the walnut trees on the estate. The harvest festival is repeated every year, and the 2026 one fell on Saturday, August 8, with grape stomping and tours. Those who want to stay have Casa Luévano, a boutique hotel surrounded by vineyard.
In February 2026 the house also opened a themed bar at the Alameda in the city of Zacatecas, designed for tastings and table gatherings.
