The house

Ciénega de Castilla began as a family retreat among oak-covered hills near Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, with two cabins for rent. The vineyard arrived in 2016, after about three years of paperwork to obtain a well concession, with four varieties brought from France: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Tempranillo.

Today it has six cabins among the vines. A sommelier leads the guided visit, explaining the grape's path from field to bottle and ending with a tasting of three wines and a board of cold cuts. There are also pairing dinners, hiking, kayaking, and a camping area, and the harvest festival takes place every September.
