The house
A vineyard in the García desert, an hour from downtown Monterrey, carries the name of the ejido around it, Maravillas (an ejido is land held by a farming community). The house grows about 5 acres (2 hectares) of vines in sandy soil, within an estate of about 15 acres (6 hectares), and according to the family the extreme heat helps control the plant's moisture.
Ramiro Valdez Herrera bottled his first wine in 2006, a Cabernet Sauvignon made entirely in Nuevo León. After his death in 2021, the family continued with the vineyard, has held a harvest festival since 2022, and keeps the estate open to visitors. García, the municipality where it is, holds a good share of Nuevo León's new vineyards, according to the 2025 press.
The vineyard holds Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, and Cabernet Franc, and everything is made on the estate itself, in small volumes. The Don Ramiro line carries the founder's name, and the Elixir de la Vida, a spiced wine, took the house to festivals around the country.
The tour of the vineyard and cellar lasts about two hours and ends with a tasting of between two and six wines, with bread and artisan cheese. The estate also has a desert spa and rustic lodging, according to the 2024 and 2025 press, and is part of the Ruta del Vino de Nuevo León (the Nuevo León wine route).
