The place
In the Cuatro Ciénegas desert, on the highway to Ocampo, Tierra María grows a vineyard among fields of lavender and rosemary, with a lake and mountains all around. Visitors can tour the vineyard, learn about the grapes and taste wine, take a guided walk of about 1.2 miles (2 km) up the property's hill, and attend a lavender and rosemary workshop that ends with a plant to take home. There is also an olive oil tasting that follows the path from the olive grove to the palate, stargazing nights by the lake, and a shop with wines, oils, and other products from the property. For weddings, the ceremony is by the lake and the reception in the Salón del Lago, roofed and surrounded by a pool that looks like a lagoon. Casa María sleeps twelve people, with a private pool and mountain views.
