The place
The mansion went up in 1756, the work of a Querétaro master builder, and its style is civil Baroque, with carved stonework, ironwork grilles, Moorish details, and a chapel. In 1917, when Querétaro was the capital of the Republic, it housed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The restoration left the original decorative wall paintings in view and since 1995 it has operated as a 13-suite hotel. Each suite has its own name, from Doña Trini and El Marqués to Maximiliano and Carlota, and they are divided into categories such as Luxury Room, Royal Studio, Suite Nupcial (Bridal Suite), and Suite Imperial (Imperial Suite). The restaurant La Marquesa serves chef-driven Mexican cooking, with breakfast until 1 p.m. and meals until 11 p.m. Clarisa Wine Room, inside the hotel, is devoted to Mexican wine. There are transfers to the bus terminal, the Querétaro airport, and the Mexico City airports.
