The place

Mariscos El Güero is a seafood restaurant in downtown Ensenada, on the northwest corner of Alvarado and Lázaro Cárdenas, about three blocks from the Centro Cultural Riviera. Its specialty is seafood tostadas, crisp tortillas served with the house salsa, and there are also cocktails, ceviches and aguachiles made from family recipes. It is open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., so it is a place for lunch, not dinner. OC Weekly calls it an Ensenada classic, and its tostadas include ones with scallop and with cured shrimp. Sources do not fully agree on the hours, and one gives 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., so check its social media. On the same Avenida Alvarado is La Guerrerense, another seafood stop in this guide, and between the two you can put together a loop through downtown Ensenada to try different tostadas.
