The place

Las Rosas Hotel & Spa sits at kilometer 105.5 of the highway from Tijuana to Ensenada, in El Sauzal, on the Pacific coast just north of the port. Its website describes a blend of Mediterranean style and Mexican tradition and places it a few minutes from the Baja California wine route. For wine travelers, the hotel restaurant pairs cooking based on local ingredients with wines from the region, and the bar, open to guests and visitors, looks out to sea and has live music on weekends, according to the hotel. All 47 rooms have a balcony with an ocean view. There are singles and doubles, singles with a fireplace in the two upper corners of the building, large doubles with two bedrooms, junior suites, suites with an in-room jacuzzi and a penthouse. Every room has cable TV, wireless internet and room service. The spa offers massages, scrubs, body wraps and facials, and the hotel also hosts weddings and other events. It is an oceanfront base for sleeping close to Ensenada and heading up to the wineries by day. It suits couples who want a suite with a jacuzzi or a fireplace, and travelers who would rather come back from the Guadalupe Valley to a hotel with a spa.
