The house
The idea behind Paralelo fits in one sentence: a single blend of Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel, grown in different soils of Guadalupe Valley (Valle de Guadalupe) so the land makes the difference. Hugo D'Acosta, the winemaker behind Casa de Piedra and La Escuelita, conceived it in 2005 with about twenty partners. It yields the Ensamble Arenal, from sandy soil, and the Ensamble Colina, from a hillside vineyard.
The winery was designed by architect Alejandro D'Acosta, Hugo's brother, and Claudia Turrent, with rammed-earth walls marked by objects that turned up on the site. Today it is one of the houses in the VYVA group, and its wines are sold in specialty shops. We have not yet confirmed whether it offers tastings.
