The house

At Sierravita the vineyard is still plowed with horses, and the farm's sheep help make the compost that feeds the soil. The family started in 2013 in El Porvenir, in Guadalupe Valley (Valle de Guadalupe), and planned it from the start as agritourism, with vineyard, winery, restaurant, and hotel on the same property.

The house works without pesticides and explains this on the tour. Visitors walk among the vines, learn about the plants and soils of the valley, go down to the underground cellar, and taste straight from the tank and the barrel wines that are not yet bottled. That is how you see a wine change before it reaches the bottle.

It makes nine labels, single varieties and blends. The best known is Gran Canario, a barrel-aged Palomino white that won a gold medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in 2023 with the 2021 vintage. Among the reds, Sierra Negra, a Malbec, and a Merlot stand out.

One afternoon falls short. With suites among the vineyards and its own kitchen, the visit can go from tasting to dinner and from there to a night at the ranch, without getting back on the highway. The house recommends booking ahead. The hotel is a boutique one, the suites are on the property, and the restaurant is part of the farm.
