The place
Sierravita's vineyard is still plowed by horse, and that unhurried pace sets the character of the estate, on parcel 182 of the Ejido El Porvenir (an ejido is a communally held farming community, a common arrangement in rural Mexico). The Estancias are its lodging: suites in a private corner of the property, each with a terrace facing the rows of vines. Inside, the suites have air conditioning, heating, wifi and a coffee maker, all you need for a winter or summer night in the valley. The winery, with an underground cellar, and the restaurant are on the same estate, so the tasting, the meal and the bed are a few steps from one another. The project describes itself as a vineyard, winery, restaurant and boutique hotel in one. It makes sense if you want to follow the El Porvenir stretch of the wine route without driving at the end of the day. Confirm reservations and the hours of the cellar and the kitchen with the hotel, by phone or email, before you set out.
It is part of Vinícola Sierravita, which has its own page in the guide: see the winery Vinícola Sierravita.
