The house
Víctor Torres Alegre earned a doctorate in Enology and Ampelography at the University of Bordeaux, and in 1998 he founded his own winery in Ejido El Porvenir (an ejido is land held by a farming community), in Guadalupe Valley (Valle de Guadalupe), with the family as the team. The house says it lets Baja California grapes speak without chemical corrections.
The range climbs in three steps. Del Viko, the young line, carries the name Víctor's youngest son gave it. La Llave, the house's first label, comes in white and red versions. Cru Garage gathers short-run single-variety wines with long aging, such as a Nebbiolo with about 25 months in new French oak. No hours are published, so confirm a visit by phone.
