The house
One barrel and three grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Merlot, were enough for Cruz Macías to start, in 2006, the wine that gives the house its name. Since then he has worked on a small scale in San Antonio de las Minas, with grapes from the Guadalupe and San Vicente valleys, hand-selected clusters, and time in barrel. Cruz, his benchmark red, blends 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petite Sirah, and 20% Merlot, and is bottled unfiltered and unclarified.
The range now includes a gran reserva called Gran Cruz, a Nebbiolo, a red named JR, a white, and two sparkling wines, one rosé and one white. Tastings are held in the new tasting room in Villa de Juárez, which has a terrace and a pétanque court. The website publishes no hours, so you need to reserve and confirm them.
