The house

Héctor Corona came to wine with no experience in the business and built the winery by surrounding himself with agronomists and winemakers. Corona del Valle was born in 2010 at km 89 on the Tecate to Ensenada highway, with its own vineyard, which the house says it farms sustainably. Today Jac Cole, a winemaker with a career of more than 35 years in Napa, guides the wines.

It grows Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo, Tempranillo, Malbec, and Syrah, but its signature is a blend of Tempranillo and Nebbiolo, made since 2012. You taste and eat at the family restaurant among the vines, which opens Tuesday through Sunday from 1 p.m.
