The house

Retorno is named for its founder's return to the land. Adrián García left the city knowing nothing about farming, and in 2008 he and his family set up this small winery in San Antonio de las Minas, at the entrance to Guadalupe Valley (Valle de Guadalupe) in Baja California, Mexico.

The house defines itself by what it leaves out: its wines carry no artificial corrections of acidity or sugar. The flagship red, Retorno, is almost all Grenache with a touch of Syrah, and it spends two years in barrel and one in bottle before release. Labels such as Teo, Palabra, Década, and Piluchas complete the range, the last a blend of Grenache, Barbera, Tempranillo, and Zinfandel.
