The house

La Escuelita, Hugo D'Acosta's workshop in El Porvenir, brought together three students: Ivette Vaillard, Eva Cotero Altamirano, and Laura McGregor García. In 2005 they began making wine together, and from that friendship came Vinícola 3 Mujeres, a name that means three women.

The winery sits on Ivette's ranch, at the km 87 marker of the highway from Tecate to Ensenada, which has also been her ceramics workshop since the 1980s. Among the pottery and whatever the ranch produces, the tasting is served in a cool, rustic cave. It receives guests by appointment only, in Spanish and English.
