The house
The García family makes handcrafted wine in Tecate, in the Valle de Tanamá area that state tourism calls the north gate of Mexican wine. Its cellar appears on the Tecate page of Baja California Travel as a rustic, classic place with good service. It makes Merlot, Cabernet, and Tempranillo, in dry and semisweet styles, and also sells cheeses, olives, and other Mediterranean products.
The data we gathered shows it active since 1950, and the local Tecate press puts Pedro García Montaño's start in the region in 1952. We found no published hours, so it is best to call or write before you go.
