The house
The family was already growing table grapes in 1985 at Rancho La Ciénega, in the Valle de San Valentín in Tecate. In 2010 it planted wine grapes, and today two women, a mother and her daughter, run the project.
They work with seven varieties: Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc among the whites, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, Syrah, and Malbec among the reds. The 2019 vintage of the Reserva Privada line includes a Merlot, a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Syrah, and a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Syrah. The house belongs to the Puerta Norte winegrowers association, which promotes wine tourism in Tecate. Its website does not publish visiting hours.
