The place

The walls of MIRA Earth Studios are rammed earth, made from the soil of the site itself, and the roofs are covered with native plants. The complex stands in the Rancho Sordo Mudo area, at kilometer 75 of the highway from Ensenada to Tecate, toward the north of the valley. It appears in the hotel guides of Michelin and Design Hotels. Each studio has a jacuzzi, a sauna, an outdoor fire pit and a projector, and each has a private terrace and a kitchenette. There is also a heated pool with a view of the valley and the restaurant Fireside. Thanks to the thickness of the walls, the interior stays cool in summer and mild in winter. Visits are by reservation. The restaurants Animalón and Finca Altozano are at kilometer 83 of the same highway, about 5 miles (8 km) farther along. The place suits couples interested in earth architecture and anyone who wants to stay in the northern part of the valley, toward Tecate, with the vineyard and the hills in view.
